PRINTMAKING

I have been creating relief printmaking plates out of wood and linoleum for the last six years.  Relief printmaking involves the cutting of plates, usually wood or linoleum, that are later printed by hand or by press. The process is physically rigorous. The cuts remove negative space around the image. What you see in a plate is mirror reverse of what appears in the printed product.  The results are dramatic. What better medium to explore the nature of wildlife?

The animals featured here were all observed, whether seen on a summer long expedition across Canada or contemplated here in the Yukon. What better subject to focus on right now in this time of change and peril?
